2016 Audi R8 Reviews

Everyone knows that once an updated version was revealed, a model is preparing to enter a new generation. This is exactly what it will happen with the Audi R8: it entered the market back in 2008 (2006 in Europe), then received an updated for 2014 (2013 for Europe) and now, Audi is preparing to unveil a new-generation R8.

The new R8 will continue to share its platform with the next-gen Lamborghini Gallardo, but Audi will focus on making it lighter and more powerful. Also, while remaining faithful to its roots, the next R8 will adopt a radical new look with lots of design elements inspired by the R8 E-tron concept car, including the single-frame grille and the matrix-beam LED lights.

Audi will also install many new elements made in carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), most likely the bonnet and roof. These new elements, combined with the new Multimaterial Spaceframe body used in the R8 e-tron, will make the next R8 lighter than the current model.

As is typical for the R8, the new generation will be offered in both V-8 and V-10 versions, with both receiving power and fuel economy boosts. Rumors point toward the V-8 version will delivering up to 450 horsepower and the the V-10 version delivering up to 570 horsepower — a gain of 20 and 50 horsepower, respectively. Both engines will feature cylinder deactivation and stop-start technology to help boost fuel economy by about 10%.

Expect to see the new Audi R8 sometime in the 2016 model year (2015 in Europe), with a roadster version to follow late in the same model year.

Rendering

As we previously stated, the next-generation Audi R8 will adopt a new design look with elements inspired by the R8 E-tron concept. The front end receives a new single-frame grille plus new headlights with matrix-beam LED lights.

Around back, the our rendering shows the larger air intakes and heat extractors to ensure a better cooling for the more powerful engines. Additionally, we expect to see revised taillights, tailpipes and diffuser.

2016 Maserati GranTurismo

By the time Audi brings the new R8 on the market, Maserati should also unveil a new-generation GranTurismo. Rumors suggest the new model will be smaller and lighter than the model it replaces and will also feature a more aggressive design.

Updates will include all-new headlights and taillights, a redesigned front grille, a larger lip spoiler, and larger air intakes. Under the hood, the model will likely feature the company’s new V-8 engine developed by Ferrari at Maranello.

2016 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

Earlier this year, Aston Martin decided to replace the current V12 Vantage with a model powerful Vantage S version — we expect this model to carry through the 2016 model year with minimal changes.

The V12 Vantage S is powered by an AM28 6.0-liter V-12 engine that delivers a total of 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. This output is enough to sprint the car up to a top speed of 205 mph.
